Chevrolet has announced plans to introduce the 2015 Trax at the New York Auto Show.

Looking virtually identical to the European variant, the US-spec has a "dual-port" grille, sweptback headlights and muscular rear fenders.  The model also has plastic body cladding and 16- or 18-inch wheels.

The interior is a little plain but features a motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster, metallic accents and a MyLink infotainment system with a seven-inch display. The boot holds 18.7 cubic feet (530 liters) of luggage but that can be increased to 48.4 cubic feet (1,371 liters) when the rear seats are folded down.

Details specifications were not announced but Chevrolet confirmed the model can be equipped with leatherette upholstery, Siri Eyes Free technology and OnStar 4G LTE with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.

Under the hood, there's a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 138 bhp (103 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque.  It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.

The 2015 Chevrolet Trax will go on sale in the United States early next year and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
