Citroën has released details and an official image with the DS 6WR, prior to the model's public launch later this month at Beijing Motor Show in China.

Initially believed to receive the DS X7 moniker, Citroën's new "wild & refined premium SUV" is basically a production version of last year's Wild Rubis concept. The vehicle is 4.55 meters long, 1.86 meters wide and 1.61 meters tall, with a 2.73-meter wheelbase and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Its front fascia is inspired by the DS 5LS sedan and comes with body plastic cladding in the front bumper, wheel arches and side sills while the mirrors have a glossy black finish. We also notice silver roof rails, a chrome bar running the entire length of the doors, xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights.

Citroën fitted the DS SUV with a Grip Control system providing "optimized traction" regardless of terrain without the complexity of a four-wheel drive setup. Power will be provided by e-THP 160 with 160 PS (118 kW) and THP 200 with 200 PS (147 kW) engines working together with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Production of the DS 6WR will take place in China at the Shenzhen site and the model is slated to go on sale in "first instance" towards the end of the year so most likely in 2015 other markets such as Europe will follow.
