The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released a couple of violent public service announcement (PSA) clips regarding the dangers of distracted driving.

Under the slogan "U Drive. U Text. U Pay", NHTSA's new PSAs are trying to get everyone's attention about the dangers of distracted driving. The attached videos are almost the same but with a different ending and show several youngsters in a car being exposed to the dangers of distracted driving.

Although some may find these clips a bit too brutal, it's important to mention a NHTSA report says 3,328 people were killed and 421,000 were injured in 2012 due to distracted driving. The good news is similar PSAs along with federally-funded enforcement programs lowered (observed) hand-held phone use from 4.1 to 2.7 percent in California and from 4.5 to 3 percent in Delaware.
