A new report indicates Mercedes-Benz is considering a baby roadster called SLA to slot below the SLK.

It was the year 2000 when Mercedes-Benz introduced the Vision SLA at NAIAS but the concept never materialized into a production version. However, the company's MFA platform could serve as foundation for such a model which would become the sixth member of the Modular Front Architecture after the A-Class, CLA, GLA, B-Class and the upcoming CLA Shooting Brake.

Such a model would be positioned below the SLK and would have a front-wheel drive layout while power would come from the same engines found in the other MFA members. A decision about whether the SLA will reach production phase is expected to be taken in the next few months.
