Renault's Senior Vice President of Corporate Design has revealed some new details about the highly anticipated Alpine revival.

Speaking to Motoring, Laurens van den Acker said "The Alpine design is as good as finished." This seems to contradict earlier reports that suggested the car was being redesigned because it received a "mixed reception" from potential buyers.

While he declined to comment on the rumors, van den Acker said they're keeping a low profile but the car is "still on track for 2016." The executive also revealed the model will likely eschew Renault badging as "We've been through all the scenarios, there are pros and cons for every scenario, but to give it its due it's probably best if it's its own brand."

While 2016 is still a ways off, van den Acker hinted we could get a "sneak peak" sometime in the future.
