According to a recent report, Jeep is considering a power-retractable top for the next-generation Wrangler.

According to a recent report, Jeep is considering a power-retractable top for the next-generation Wrangler.

Details are limited but Road & Track is reporting the top is in the "very early stages of development" and could become an option on the next-generation Wrangler. This would simply the task of raising and lowering the top but it's expected to come with a very high price tag.

In related news, the magazine is reporting the removable doors will carryover but the folding windshield and rear-mounted spare tire could be dropped. Their sources go on to say the model will the solid axles and a redesigned frame that delivers better ride qualities.

There's no word on when the next-generation Wrangler will arrive but some reports have indicated it could be a 2016 model. However, other reports have suggested the current Wrangler will stick around until mid 2018.
