DC Design has taken the wraps off the peculiar open-top Eleron SUV at this year’s Auto Expo show in New Delhi, prior to a 2016 production launch.

While DC Design's two-seater Tia can be categorized as being cute, the Eleron is downright odd since it's an open-top SUV with a very strange design that very few people will appreciate. The all-wheel drive Eleron is actually based on the Avanti and is motivated by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 265 bhp (197 kW) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) delivered to the ground through a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

The DC Design Eleron is 5055mm long, 1965mm wide and 1710mm tall, with a 3090mm wheelbase and huge 22-inch alloy wheels. It benefits from a double wishbone front suspension and an air suspension at the back where there's also a limited-slip differential.

Tipping the scales at a whopping 2,500 kg (5,511 lbs), the Eleron will complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 9 seconds before topping out at 124 mph (200 km/h).

Production of the model is scheduled to commence in 2016 with a starting price of Rs 35 lakhs (approximately 35,000 USD).
