Mercedes has announced plans to introduce an all-new sports car later this year.
The company declined to go into specifics but said AMG will "enter a new segment with a sports car it has fully developed itself." The model will likely be the AMG GT and feature a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that has outputs of 485 HP (357 kW) and 550 HP (404 kW). There's no word on when the car will be unveiled but previous reports have indicated it could debut at the German Grand Prix on July 20th.
Besides talking about their new sports car, AMG confirmed they sold approximately 32,200 units last year. The company says the record setting result was due to several key factors including the introduction of the all-wheel drive and new models such as the A45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG.
