Our spies spotted a next-gen Chevrolet Cruze showing its taillight graphics while conducting some cold weather testing.

The latest spy photos provide a better view of the taillights which seem to be derived from recent Chevrolet models. The model was originally programmed to come out this fall as a 2015MY but it was delayed until December 2015 when production of the 2016 model year will allegedly commence. Details as to why it was postponed are not known, but rumors are indicating some engineering issues occurred during development.

Details about the new Cruze are scarce at the moment but the model could ride on a new D2XX platform and according to GM the car will come with "new exterior and interior styling, improved fuel economy and an improved interior compartment and more storage space." General Motors North American President Mark Reuss said recently the next-gen Cruze will "blow you away."

Expect the second-gen Chevrolet Cruze to be offered as a sedan, hatchback and coupe which will all reportedly adopt an Impala-inspired front fascia. The aforementioned D2XX architecture will also serve as foundation for the next generation Opel/Vauxhall Astra and Chevrolet Volt & Equinox.
