Pratt & Miller has released a new promotional video that highlights the development and construction of the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

Created alongside the Corvette Z06, the C7.R rides on a production-based aluminum frame that is 40 percent stronger than the one used on the C6.R. The car has also been equipped with an extensive aerodynamics package that mimics the road-going model.

Performance specifications haven't been released but the car uses a naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine that has been equipped with direct injection. This doesn't sound like a major change but Chevrolet Racing Director Mark Kent has previously said "Direct injection typically improves fuel economy about 3 percent. That could be enough to bypass one fuel stop during a 24-hour race."
