British businessman David Brown has founded a new company which aims to "refresh the classic British sports car, for the 21st century."

Codenamed "Project Judi", the new luxury sports car is the work of David Brown and Alan Mobberley who until 2005 worked for 19 years as Land Rover's chief designer. The car is being developed for production by Envisage Group and will be unveiled in April, followed by a limited production series.

Details about the car have not been disclosed but David Brown describes his new company as a "British luxury automotive brand" which has created a product capable of providing the "impact and style of a classic sports car, but with modern capabilities and conveniences." Its appearance will be the result of combining a "classically-inspired exterior design" with "the latest in performance, dynamics, technology, comfort and refinement."

Additional details will be provided closer to the car's introduction scheduled for April.
