Mercedes' Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing has revealed some new details about the highly anticipated AMG GT.

Speaking to Car & Driver, Ola Källenius said the model will be a departure from the SLS AMG because "We want to let the SLS sit on its own in history." The executive also said the AMG GT will be “pure sport" instead of "sport luxury” like the SL-Class.

Källenius didn't have much else to say about the model but it is expected to be unveiled later this year with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces approximately 485 HP (357 kW). This is significantly less than the SLS AMG, but the AMG GT is expected to be smaller and lighter than that particular model.
