Mercedes-Benz is showcasing at NAIAS in Detroit the GLA 45 AMG, a high-performance version of its entry-level crossover.

The GLA 45 AMG shares its engine with the rest of the AMG A-Class lineup (A45, CLA45), a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Euro 6-compliant turbocharged gasoline motor outputting 360 HP (265 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft). Power is sent to an all-wheel drive 4MATIC system through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed gearbox which enables the vehicle to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.8 seconds prior to reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Compared to the regular GLA, the AMG version comes with a beefed up body kit, a quad exhaust setup, bigger alloy wheels plus other bits and pieces you would normally find on an AMG model such as the large vents, muscular side skirts and more aggressive bumpers.

Customers will be able to configure their GLA 45 AMG with a variety of optional packages such as carbon fiber, aero and night, along with red brake calipers, an interior carbon fiber trim, different upholstery options and performance seats.
