A Chevrolet representative said the Corvette Z06 won't receive a next-gen version if sales of the upcoming model won't improve compared to its predecessors.

When asked by Digital Trends about the upcoming Z06, Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter said "if we don't get sales back up, there won't be a next one." From what we understand he was referring strictly to the Z06 version of the Corvette but DT says the Corvette could be axed altogether around 2020, something which we consider as unlikely to happen.

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be introduced in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and is rumored to feature a V8 7.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine outputting 600 bhp (447 kW). According to Chevrolet, the new Z06 was "designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features."
