German media is reporting Porsche plans to showcase an off-road concept of the 911 at next year's Beijing Motor Show scheduled for April.

The vehicle will allegedly receive the 911 Safari moniker and will represent a throwback to the 1978 911 SC Safari rally car (see attached photos). If feedback will be positive, chances are Porsche will introduce a production version sometime in 2016 for markets where drivers have to deal with poor road conditions such as South America, Russia, China and the Middle East.

Details are extremely scarce at the moment, but the Porsche 911 Safari concept will be reportedly based on the all-wheel drive Carrera 4S and is said to feature underbody cladding, beefy tires and a raised suspension.
