Audi recently introduced a Sport Quattro concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show and new details are starting to emerge about the long-rumored production model which is slated to be launched in 2015.

While the concept featured a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor for a combined maximum output of 700 HP (515 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, Auto Motor und Sport says Audi development boss Ulrich Hackenberg has decided against a hybrid only lineup. Instead, the base model will reportedly have a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 340-360 HP (250-265 kW).

That might not sound like much but the car will reportedly use a carbon fiber and aluminum body. This could enable the Quattro to tip the scales at 1300 kg (2866 kg) despite being equipped with an all-wheel drive system.
