Volvo will be showing next month at NAIAS in Detroit the Concept XC Coupe, a design study which likely previews the next generation of the XC90.

The Swedish automaker initiated a trio of design studies back in September with the gorgeous Concept Coupe shown at IAA in Frankfurt and now they are ready to reveal the Concept XC Coupe which will be introduced on January 13 at NAIAS. We won't have to wait that long as Volvo plans to reveal full details, videos and image galleries of the coupe-fied SUV on January 8.

The vehicle serves as a preview in terms of styling for the next generation of the XC90 set to be launched late next year. This is not the first time when Volvo is teasing the new XC90 as during the media presentation of the aforementioned Concept Coupe they showed a couple of darkened pictures of what will be the first Volvo model developed under Geely ownership. The range-topping Volvo SUV will ride on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and will be powered by a variety of engines part of the newly established Drive-E lineup.
