The racing debut of the Bentley Continental GT3 is inching closer as David Appleby Engineering has announced they will become the first customer racing team to take delivery of the model.

Set to compete under the Generation Bentley Racing banner, the car will be driven by James Appleby and Steve Tandy in the British GT Championship. If everything goes according to plan, the car will make its racing debut at Oulton Park on April 19th.

In a statement, Bentley Motorsport Director Brian Gush said “I am delighted that David and his team will be competing with the Continental GT3 in our home country in 2014. The team has a wealth of experience and I'm confident that their energy and professionalism will see some very encouraging results next year."

As a refresher, the Continental GT3 has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 600 bhp (447 kW). It is connected to a six-speed Xtrac sequential transmission which should ensure the 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs) race car is significantly faster than its road-going counterpart.
