General Motors North America President Mark Reuss has revealed his desire for a high-performance Chevrolet Sonic.

Speaking to Automotive News, Reuss said "We've got the ride-and-handling vehicle dynamics for it" so "I'd love to do" to do a high-performance variant. The executive declined to elaborate but he suggested the model would be more powerful than the Sonic RS.

As a refresher, the Sonic RS has a turbocharged 1.4-liter EcoTec four-cylinder engine that develops 138 bhp (103 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque. For comparison, the Ford Fiesta ST has a 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that produces 197 bhp (147 kW) and 202 lb-ft (273 Nm) of torque.
