Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi said in a recent interview the seventh installment in Polyphony Digital's racing franchise could come out as early as 2014.

Gran Turismo 6 isn't even out yet but the game's creator is already talking about its successor which will be launched on Sony's new PlayStation 4. In an interview given to Top Gear at the Los Angeles Auto Show, GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi said they "don't want to wait too long on Gran Turismo 7" and the "best-case scenario" would be a 2014 launch.

When talking about GT6 he said they "had to tune the software 100 percent to maximize the PS3's architecture" and he strongly believes its successor will look even better thanks to the more powerful hardware inside Sony's next-gen console.

As a reminder, Gran Turismo 6 will be out exclusively on the PS3 on December 6.
