Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed plans to offer a pickup truck.

Speaking to Business Insider, Musk said the model would target the Ford F-Series and could be launched in approximately five years.

The executive declined to go into specifics but noted the company wants to focus on consumer trucks instead of commercial trucks because there is a larger market. Musk also revealed the truck would be benchmarked against the F-Series because it is the most popular pickup in America.

There's no word on specifications but the truck could be offered with the Model X's Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive system. The model could also offer 60 and 85 kWh batteries but nothing is official as of yet.
