A more affordable price tag will be possible by removing the roof rails and alloy wheels, while the xenon headlights will also be left out of the equation. It will also lack a dual exhaust arrangement and chances are the interior cabin will also be downgraded.

Under the hood it will pack Renault's 1.5-liter dCi engine which produces 109 HP (81 kW) and should enable the crossover to have a fuel consumption of around 4 liters / 100 km (58.8 mpg US or 70.6 mpg UK). This engine can be found under the hood of various Renault, Nissan and Dacia models, as well as in the A 180 CDI.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 180 CDI is expected to come out in the first quarter of 2014.
