2014 Opel Astra unveiled with new engine, upgraded tech

Opel has introduced the 2014 Astra.

Looking identical to its predecessor, the updated model can be equipped with a new 1.6-liter CDTI engine that develops 136 HP (100 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the hatchback to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.3 seconds, hit a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph) and average 3.9 L/100km (60.3 mpg US / 72.4 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 104 g/km.

Inside, there's a new IntelliLink infotainment system that has a seven-inch touchscreen display. The entry-level system has a CD player and Bluetooth/USB/AUX connectivity, while the range-topping Navi 950 variant boasts European-wide GPS navigation.

Last but not least, customers can order a new Active package that includes LED daytime running lights, Piano Black trim, cloth / leather seats and an entry-level IntelliLink infotainment system.
