Isuzu has introduced the all-new MU-X off-roader which will be sold in both 4x2 and 4x4 versions.

From a design point of view it takes many styling cues from the D-MAX with a wedge-shaped front fascia and muscular flared wheel arches while the spacious cabin offers enough room for up to seven people. It will be available in three trim levels with standard equipment such as six-speaker sound system with iPod and Bluetooth support while the range-topping LS-T gets a roof-mounted Sky Sound system with 10-inch DVD monitors for the rear passengers.

Power comes exclusively from an inline-four 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine delivering 174 bhp (130 kW) at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque from 1,800 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels or both axles through either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed electronically-controlled transmission with sequential shift and brake shift lock.

The versions equipped with the automatic come as standard with hill-ascent and descent control, while 4x4 models benefit from the company's "Terrain command" 4WD select dial (2-high, 4-high, 4-low range).

Pricing in Australia starts from 40,500 AUD for the base 4x2 LS-M auto model and goes all the way up to 53,500 AUD for the range-topping 4x4 LS-T auto.

Full details can be accessed from the attached press release.
