Alfa confirmed the lap time last week when they said the 4C is now the fastest production car around the 'Ring with less than 250 HP. The record-breaking attempt was achieved by Horst von Saurma on September 12 who managed to complete the lap in 8 minutes and 4 seconds. The vehicle came with type-approved road Pirelli "AR" P Zero Trofeo tires specifically developed for the 4C.

Alfa Romeo's new product is a two-seater, rear-wheel drive coupe which weighs 1,973 lbs (895 kg) and makes use of a 1.75-liter four-cylinder engine developing 240 HP (177 kW) and a peak torque of 258 lb-ft (350 Nm). The 4C will conquer the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 4.5 seconds before topping out at 160 mph (258 km/h).

Expect to see a more focused Stradale version in 2014 which will reportedly have 269 HP (198 kW) and will actually be based on a track-only 4C Racing. The lineup will also encompass a targa version sporting restyled headlights and an updated cabin.
