Alfa Romeo has confirmed the 4C managed to lap the Nürburgring in 8 minutes and 4 seconds, thus confirming a report which emerged at the beginning of the month.

Behind the wheel was Horst von Saurma who proved on September 12 the Alfa Romeo 4C is the fastest car with less than 250 HP to lap the Nordschleife. The vehicle was equipped with Pirelli "AR" P Zero Trofeo tires which were specially developed for this model over the course of less than a year. These are available in two size combinations (17-inch front / 18-inch rear and 18-inch front / 19-inch rear) and have been tweaked for track use but still remain type-approved for road use.

Alfa's hot 895 kg (1,973 lbs) two-seater rear-wheel drive coupe is powered by a 4-cylinder, 1.75-liter engine outputting 240 HP (177 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque which sends the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 160 mph (258 km/h). Alfa Romeo says 80 percent of the torque is available from 1,800 rpm while the entire horsepower is usable at 6,000 rpm.
