Jaguar has high hope for their entry-level sedan but a recent report is indicating its failure could sink the company.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a Jaguar Land Rover executive told Bernstein Research "If the X760 [the entry-level sedan] fails, it will be probably be the end for the brand.” The executive went on to explain "This is the only choice as Jaguar is not viable at 60,000 units" annually.

Despite the dire statement, the entry-level sedan is expected to be a successful addition to the lineup. Sales should further by helped by the X761 crossover which was recently previewed by the C-X17 concept.

As a refresher, the X760 will be launched in 2015 and could adopt the XS moniker. Jaguar has remained coy on specifications but has already confirmed the model will ride iQ[Al] platform and be offered with a variety of engines which will enable the car to hit a top speed in excess of 300km/h (186mph).
