Toyota has revealed some new details about their upcoming hydrogen vehicle which will be launched in 2015.

Previewed by the FCV-R concept, the production model will debut at the Tokyo Motor Show and ride on a modified version of the platform that underpins the Toyota Sai and Lexus HS 250h.

The model will hold about 5 kilograms (11 pounds) of compressed hydrogen which will enable it to travel more than 500 km (311 miles) on a single fillup. When the tank is empty, it can be fully replenished in approximately three minutes.

Little else is known about the model but it will produce approximately 136 HP (100 kW) and cost roughly $50,000. Despite a number of challenges, Toyota expects to sell tens of thousands of hydrogen vehicles by 2020.
