Toyota has announced its new TNGA architecture will finally put an end to the numerous safety recalls issued over the last several years.

Company board member Mitsuhisa Kato says the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) will be introduced in 2015 with the next generation of the Prius. Designed at "making ever better cars", TNGA will allow Toyota to reduce development time by 30 percent and costs by up to 20 percent. All the cost savings made will be reinvested in development of new products.

All Toyota models will eventually be underpinned by this new platform which will reduce weight and also lower the center of gravity. Kato says the architecture will "set performance targets" and all cars based on TNGA will "ride, turn, and stop" better. In addition, these models will be offered with increased "personalization" options depending on region.
