The Los Angeles Auto Show has announced BMW will introduce a 4-Series Hybrid at the annual event.

Details are limited but the model will likely be based on the 4-Series Coupe and use the same powertrain as the ActiveHybrid 3. This means we can expect a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine and a 55 HP (40 kW / 54 hp) electric motor will work together to produce a combined maximum output of 340 HP (250 kW).

There's no word on performance specifications but the sedan accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and averages 5.9 L/100km (47.9 mpg UK / 39.8 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km. The model can also travel on electricity alone for up to 4 km (2.5 miles) at speeds up to 75 km/h (46 mph).

Update: BMW has released a statement saying the Los Angeles Auto Show made a mistake and there will be no 4-Series Hybrid at the show
