Development work continues on the 2014 BMW X4 as our spies have caught the model undergoing testing on the Nürburgring.

Previewed by the X4 concept, the production model has a familiar design but adopts a revised front bumper that closely echoes the X3. The crossover also has larger mirrors and a more conventional rear end that mimics the X6.

Since the model is based on the X3, engines options will likely include:

  • A TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 bhp (179 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque
  • A TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 300 bhp (224 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque
  • A 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel with 184 bhp (135 kW) and 380 (280 lb-ft) of torque

The BMW X4 is expected to be introduced early next year, so stay tuned full details.
