General Motor's chief executive engineer of full-size trucks has revealed the company could introduce off-road inspired versions of the Chevrolet Tahoe / Suburban and GMC Yukon / Yukon XL.

General Motor's chief executive engineer of full-size trucks has revealed the company could introduce off-road inspired versions of the Chevrolet Tahoe / Suburban and GMC Yukon / Yukon XL.

Speaking to Automotive News, Jeff Luke said "We are looking at, for this generation, a more off-road variant." He added that customers "love off-roading with these vehicles" and they consider them "more off-road capable" than crossovers.

General Motors has previously offered the models with off-road packages - which included things like a retuned suspension, underbody production and meatier tires - but they haven't been big sellers. However, the company appears to have higher hopes for more off-road focused variants.

Luke also confirmed the models will receive continuous upgrades which will primarily be focused on adding technology and improving the powertrain.
