A gold-plated 1:8 scale model of a Lamborghini Aventador will hit the auction block at a starting price of 7.5M USD.

This isn't the first time we hear about Gülpen's gold Aventador but now the 1:8 scale model will be actually built and auctioned at a starting price of no less than 7.5M USD, with 650,000 USD of the earnings going to charity. The seller mentions all the precious metals and gemstones fitted onto the scale model are worth a whopping 2.64M USD. It will be carved out of a 500-kg (1,102 lbs) block of solid gold and will have 25 kg (55 lbs) of the precious metal.

The scale model seen in this video is being showcased in a Dubai showroom but it's not the real deal as it's only a prototype made of less valuable materials. The reason why the actual 1:8 scale model hasn't been built already is to allow the buyer to customize it to his own preferences.

It has already secured three Guinness world records for the most expensive scale model car, the most luxurious logo and the most secure showcase (which includes bulletproof glass). A Lamborghini representative told CNBC that nobody was interested in acquiring the scale model, even though the prototype has been on display for over a week. Maybe that's because sitting right next to the scale model prototype is a real Aventador which can be considered a bargain at a starting price of around 400,000 USD.
