The 2014 Volkswagen Polo has been spied undergoing hot weather testing in Death Valley.

While there isn't much to see, the prototype has a camouflaged front fascia which suggests the model will receive a mild refreshing that includes a new bumper, restyled headlights and a modified grille.

Our spies couldn't get close enough to snap interior photos but previous reports have indicated the model could feature a new dashboard, an updated infotainment system and additional assistance systems.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but rumors have suggested the model could be offered with the 1.0-liter three-cylinder TSI  that resides in the up! If the rumor pans out, we can expect it to produce 60 HP (44 kW) to 90 HP (66 kW).
