The 2013 Range Rover Sport Hybrid is making an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show, following an announcement made last month.

Described as the first premium diesel-electric hybrid SUV on the market, the Range Rover Sport Hybrid promises to offer a decent fuel consumption of 6.4 liters / 100 km (36.7 mpg US or 44.1 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 169 g/km. This will be possible courtesy of a SDV6 3.0-liter diesel engine, an electric motor and an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

This hardware arrangement will provide the British off-roader with combined output of 340 HP (250 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm. Despite the hefty 2,372 kg (5,229 lbs) curb weight, the hybrid Range Rover Sport needs just 6.7 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h) and will do 140 mph (225 km/h).

Land Rover says they are already taking orders and will start delivering cars early next year.
