Alpina has introduced the new D3 Bi-Turbo at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Designed to balance performance and fuel efficiency, the model has a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine that has been outfitted with an optimized air intake, a larger intercooler, a new exhaust manifold and a stainless steel sports exhaust system. Thanks to these modifications, the engine develops 350 bhp (257 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque.

The engine is connected to an upgraded eight-speed automatic transmission - with a new torque converter - which enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and hit a top speed of top speed of 278 km/h (172 mph). In terms of efficiency, the model returns 5.3 L/100km (44.3 mpg US / 53.2 mpg UK) and 139 g/km of CO2.

If you're looking for something a tad more practical, the D3Bi-Turbo Touring can be equipped with an optional all-wheel drive system. Thanks to the added grip, the wagon runs from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

To keep things under control, engineers installed a sport-tuned suspension with stiffer springs, new anti-roll bars and electronically adjustable dampers. The company also added a high-performance braking system with aluminum calipers and discs that measure 370mm front / 345mm rear.

Styling changes are limited but models are equipped with a front spoiler and 19-inch alloywheels that are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The cabin also gains premium leather upholstery, sports seats and special badging.
