Audi has publicly unveiled the 2014 A3 Cabriolet this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.
Larger and lighter than the outgoing model, the all-new A3 Cabriolet has a soft cloth top which can be operated at speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h). It opens and closes in 18 seconds and can be replaced with an optional "acoustic top" which will diminish interior cabin noise thanks to a thicker inner foam layer.
Powering the new A3 Cabrio will be a 1.4 TFSI gasoline engine outputting 140 HP (103 kW), followed by a 1.8 TFSI with 180 HP (132 kW) and a 2.0 TDI churning 150 HP (110 kW). Audi will also offer later on a 1.6 TDI with 110 HP (81 kW) and a 2.0 TFSI with 300 HP. The latter will power the S3 Cabriolet and will come with a 6-speed S tronic which will enable the hot cabrio to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds.
Sales will commence later this fall at a starting price of 31,700 EUR.
