Volkswagen has introduced the e-load up! concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Essentially a commercial van version of the e-up!, the e-load up! is billed as an "agile city delivery vehicle" that is suitable for couriers, pizza delivery drivers and service technicians. As a result, the model has been equipped with a variety of business friendly features including plastic body cladding, blocked out rear windows and a fold-up passenger seat that enables the hatchback to carry more than 1,400 liters (49.4 cubic feet) of luggage.
Motivation is provided by an 18.7 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers an electric motor which has a peak output of 82 HP (60 kW) and 210 Nm (154 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 12.4 seconds, hit a top speed of 130 km/h (80 mph) and travel up to 160 km (99 miles) on a single charge.
Volkswagen declined to confirm the e-load up! will go into production but hinted "Given the right level of demand, a commercial vehicle version, such as the e-load up!, could thus also be available soon. "
