A new report mentions Infiniti is working on several models to compete with the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The first car will be aimed at the regular S-Class sedan and will likely be followed by a competitor for the upcoming S-Class Coupe. In addition, Infiniti will allegedly introduce an S-Class AMG rival which will pave the way for the company's performance division. The first model of the trio will be the sedan due in a couple of years, followed by the coupe in 2016. Around the same time we should see the S63 AMG-rivaling Infiniti.

These cars will be part of Infiniti's objective to boost its product lineup by 60 percent and double engine offerings as a method to increase deliveries from 200,000 to 500,000 units by 2020. The work for this bold objective has already started with the Q50 model and will be followed by the high-riding Q30 hatchback programmed for a 2015 launch.
