You probably remember Ron Dennis saying during the Geneva Motor Show back in March the P1 is fast enough to break the seven-minute barrier on the Nordschleife. A new report has emerged saying McLaren's supercar has lapped the endangered German circuit in 7:04, thus smashing the current official record of a production street-legal car held by the Dodge Viper ACR with a time of 7:12.13.

It is an impressive performance but for McLaren it's not enough as they don't want to confirm the time because the car was too slow during the run. Most likely, they want to live up to their promise and do a sub-seven minute lap.
