Caterham has announced plans to introduce their Seven 165 concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Designed to preview the company's entry-level model, the 165 concept will feature a turbocharged 660cc three-cylinder engine that is sourced from Suzuki. While the engine only develops 80 HP (59 kW) and 107 Nm (79 lb-ft) of torque, Caterham says the model will deliver the same "level of pure driving fun" as the range-topping Seven 485.

According to Caterham CEO, Graham Macdonald, “The engineering process involved in the creation of the Caterham Seven 165 is nearing completion and, as we piece together the final elements, the car we believe will inspire a new generation of drivers to become Caterham enthusiasts is taking shape in exciting fashion."

The Seven 165 is scheduled to go into production in January and pricing will start at approximately €25,000 (including taxes).
