Volkswagen has announced plans to introduce three vehicles at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The first model will be the Golf R which features sporty styling and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 300 HP (221 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the all-wheel drive hatchback to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds (4.9 seconds with the optional six-speed DSG) and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

The company will also unveil the e-Golf which is slated to use a 26.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that develops 115 HP (86 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque. This could enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 11.8 seconds, hit a top speed of 135 km/h (84 mph) and have a range of approximately 175 km (109 miles).

The third model remains a mystery but the main themes of Volkswagen's Frankfurt display are e-mobility, 4MOTION, and the WRC (World Rally Championship).
