The prototype was spied undergoing testing in the United States wearing less camouflage than previous cars. After looking at this large grille and slender headlights we noticed many similarities with the Evos concept exhibited two years ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Many will agree the front grille shows some resemblance to Aston Martin's grille. This isn't really a surprise since the new Mondeo/Fusion and facelifted Fiesta have already received an AM-like grille, while the Focus facelift will get a similar treatment.

The new Mustang is expected to drop 181 kg (400 lbs) so it should have a curb weight of around 1,406 kg (3,100 lbs). To achieve this significant weight reduction the car will reportedly be smaller and will also make more use of aluminum.

In terms of engine lineup, a 4-cylinder, 2.3-liter EcoBoost has already been confirmed for Europe, while a larger V8 5.0-liter is rumored to come with 450 bhp (335 kW). There are also talks about a V6-powered version and a flagship Shelby GT350 which will have "substantially more" than 450 bhp (335 kW).
