The Volkswagen Kombi has been built in Brazil since 1957 but the sun is about to set on the longest produced model in automotive history.

To celebrate the occasion, Volkswagen has unveiled the Kombi Last Edition which features a two-tone exterior with whitewall tires, tinted rear windows and special badging.

The interior also gets a makeover thanks to two-tone vinyl seats, blue fabric curtains and special floor mats. There's also an individually-numbered dash plaque and a revised instrument cluster with a special serigraph treatment.

Power is provided by a 1.4-liter EA111 engine that develops 78 HP (57 kW) on petrol or 80 HP (58 kW) on ethanol. It is connected exclusively to a four-speed manual transmission.

Production will be limited to 600 units and each model comes with a special certificate of authenticity.
