A 2014 Opel Adam prototype equipped with the recently announced 1.0-liter SIDI Turbo engine was spied undergoing testing before the car goes official in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Scheduled to go on sale next year, the Adam fitted with the turbo three-cylinder gasoline engine will offer 115 HP (85 kW) and 166 Nm (122 lb-ft). The mill benefits from a die-cast aluminum block, direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and will be mated to a new six-speed manual gearbox which weighs only 81 lbs (37 kg).

Aside from new engine and transmission, the 2014 Adam will also come with an additional lower air intake in the front bumper, just behind the number plate. In addition, the revised Adam will feature some cosmetic tweaks to the areas surrounding the headlights and taillights.
