Looking instantly recognizable, the 1-Series GT closely mirrors the Concept Active Tourer but adopts a revised front fascia and more conventional headlights. We can also see new mirrors, thicker window trim and revised door handles. The changes are less notable at the rear but include a modified bumper, larger taillights and a traditional exhaust system.

Engine options are expected to include a variety of three- and four-cylinder units. Detailed specifications haven't been released but BMW has previously stated the 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine will have outputs ranging from 82 HP (60 kW) to 224 HP (165 kW).

Previous reports have indicated the 1-Series GT could be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show but more recent reports have suggested a Geneva debut could be more likely.
