Opel has announced plans to offer a 200 HP version of its 1.6-liter SIDI Turbo for the Cascada.

The most powerful version of the Cascada on sale today offers 170 HP (125 kW) from its 1.6-liter SIDI Turbo ECOTEC gasoline engine, but a more potent 200 HP (147 kW) will be available starting this fall after it premieres in September at IAA.

This power plant is capable of producing a maximum torque of 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) and enables the attractive mid-size cabrio to provide a fuel consumption of just 6.7 liters / 100 km (42.1 mpg UK or 35.1 mpg US), with CO2 emissions of 158 g/km. Equipped with this engine, the Cascada will achieve a top speed of 146 mph (235 km/h).

This piece of news comes after yesterday's announcement of a three-cylinder 1.0-liter SIDI Turbo with 115 HP (85 kW) and 166 Nm (122 lb-ft) which will be available at first in the Adam.
