Terrafugia demonstrated recently the Transition can work not only as a car but also as a plane.

It's not a flying car per se but it actually has the capability of working as a regular airplane. The demonstration took place at the EAA AirVenture air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where the street-legal vehicle showed the gathered crowd it can go airborne. Instead of characterizing it as a flying car, Terrafugia wants you to think of the Transition as a plane which can be driven on public roads if necessary (at speeds of up to 65 mph).

The "roadable aircraft" is not just for show as production is scheduled to commence in 2015. The company already received about 100 deposits from clients willing to spend 279,000 USD on this versatile vehicle which might pave the way for a new type of transportation.
