Bentley has finally confirmed the addition of an SUV to its lineup which will occur in 2016.

Although previous reports were suggesting production will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia, the Bentley SUV will be built in Crewe where the company will invest 800M GBP. These funds will be spent not only for the SUV's development but also for additional models which will be added in the future. The SUV will be Bentley's fourth model line to be built in Crewe and will create more than 1,000 jobs in UK.

Interestingly, in the press release there is no mention of the peculiar EXP 9 F concept which was shown at last year's Geneva Motor Show as a preview for an SUV production model. Bentley does say its "styling will set it apart from any other SUV on the road and will be true to the Bentley design DNA." In addition, the British marque describes the model as being the "most luxurious and most powerful SUV in the market."

While the concept was far from being a looker, this design sketch makes us believe Bentley's SUV will be improved in terms of styling. Noticeable changes include a much sleeker roofline and a BMW-like hofmeister kink. The biggest problem of the concept was its awkward front but unfortunately we can't tell from this sketch what will change. Hopefully, all will be for the better.
