The overall length of the sedan has increased by 120mm to 4580mm in comparison to the hatchback, while the wheelbase has remained the same at 2700mm. Sedan's boot opening width has increased by 100mm to 1102mm and cargo capacity stands at 419 liters which represents an increase of 69 liters over the hatchback.

In the UK it will be offered with a SKYACTIV-G 1.5-liter gasoline engine developing 100 HP (73 kW) linked to a six-speed manual transmission which will enable the sedan to return 56.4 mpg UK (47 mpg US or 5 liters / 100 km) in the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 118 g/km.

Up next is the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline mill available with 120 HP (88 kW) and 165 HP (121 kW). The lesser variant returns 55.3 mpg UK (46 mpg US or 5.1 liters / 100 km) and has 119 g/km of CO2 emissions with the manual gearbox and 50.4 mpg UK (42 mpg US or 5.6 liters / 100 km) with 129 g/km when mated to the automatic transmission. The more powerful variant returns 48.7 mpg UK (40.5 mpg US or 5.8 liters / 100 km) with CO2 emissions of 135 g/km.

Lastly, the SKYACTIV-D diesel produces 150 HP (110 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) from 1,800 rpm. Equipped with the manual gearbox, the 2014 Mazda3 fitted with this engine will do 72.4 mpg UK (60.2 mpg US or 3.9 liters / 100 km) and 104 g/km.

Both body styles will go on sale in UK later this year. Pricing will be revealed closer to launch date.
